How simple interest is calculated
Simple interest is calculated only on the starting principal: Interest = Principal × Annual rate × Time in years ÷ 100. Total maturity is the principal plus that interest.
Principal
The original amount on which interest is calculated.
Annual rate
The entered percentage is treated as a yearly simple-interest rate.
Time
Months are converted to 1/12 of a year and days to 1/365 of a year.
