How the retirement contribution is estimated

The investment horizon is retirement age minus current age. The calculator then estimates the equal monthly or yearly contribution needed to reach the target corpus, assuming each contribution is made at the end of the period and earns the return entered thereafter.

Target corpus

The future amount you want available at retirement.

Investment horizon

The number of years between the two ages entered.

Required contribution

An equal end-of-month or end-of-year investment under the selected scenario.

Set the target before solving the contribution

This page does not calculate retirement expenses or inflate today's spending into a future corpus. It also does not subtract existing retirement savings. Use a target that already reflects those factors, or model them separately before using this result.

Taxes, investment costs, contribution increases, missed contributions and changing returns are not included.

Frequently asked questions

Does the target include inflation?

Only if the target you enter already includes it. This calculator does not increase the target automatically.

Are my existing investments included?

No. The result assumes the entire target must be funded by the new monthly or yearly contributions.

Is the expected return guaranteed?

No. Investment returns can vary. Test a lower-return scenario and review the plan periodically.
